DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES ACROSS SLBC MINISTRY
Below, you will find specific resources that will allow families to continue biblical discussions within the family about things being learned in Sunday School, Children's Church, Youth Services, and our Sunday Sermons. The goal is to equip parents to be the primary disciple making leaders in their home while being equipped to have discussions towards understanding and application of biblical truths being discussed in places where parents might not be present for the teaching. These weekly resources should have an overview of what was studied, specific questions for discussion, and possibly some memory verses to focus on monthly. We hope these resources will be an encouragement to you and to your family as you lead the way by pointing your children to God's Word and God's Work in one another's lives.
DISCIPLESHIP FOCUS - 2026 - NEW CITY CATECHISM
As a church, beginning in February, we initiated a weekly pursuit of Discipleship in our homes and families by using New City Catechisms.
You can download the Apple IOS APPLICATION HERE and if you are an Android user you can download the GOOGLE PLAY STORE APP HERE.
Weekly, we will put the Catechism of the Week link here so that as a family if you don't use the app, you can still access the information here and can launch it in regular mode for adults and students or switch it over to kids mode to simplify the process of memorization and encouragement.
Additionally, we will be utilizing the catechism of the week to teach our Students and Children's Sunday School classes throughout the year so that as a family, there will be a continuity of directional growth towards foundational principles of the faith that can be learned at church and fully reinforced and implemented in the home!

THE BIG QUESTION FOR THIS MONTH:
Why do Christians continue to sin?
This week we will be looking at the story of Jonah. Jonah was told to go to Nineveh so that they could hear God's message to turn from sin and be saved.
DISCUSSION QUESTION:
How did Jonah get into the sea? Did Jonah deserve to be saved from the sea?
Jonah was running from what God had told him to do. He got on a boat and storm suddenly came upon the ship and he was thrown into the sea so that the storm would stop.
No, Jonah did nothing to deserve to be saved from the sea, but God is his mercy and grace saved him.
Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days. How long was Jesus in the tomb?
Jesus was in the tomb for three days. Jesus told people that He is greater than Jonah. After rising from the dead, Jesus proved not only was he greater than Jonah, but He truly is the Son of God.

Who can you share the good news of Jesus with? What will you tell them?
Who can you talk to about sharing your faith?
MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:

FAMILY LIFE GROUP WEEKLY RESOURCES
FAMILY LIFE GROUP QUESTIONS
March 1, 2026
This weekend we are concluding our Foundational Steps Series with Excitement in the Word - leaning into the reality that abundant life can only be found in Christ and that the enemy desires to keep us from experiencing that abundant life through many different challenges we face in our world today.
Below are the questions for our FLG for March 1, 2026:
1) RECAP - What is something that you realize God has uniquely prepared you for as you consider what He has brought you through?
2) From the sermon on Sunday we saw what the phrase “God promises us abundant life” (John 10:10) means biblically.
Have I looked horizontally (in the world) for joy that scripture tells me I can only find vertically (In Christ)?
How did that affect the way I saw God and His gift of salvation?
3) Where in my life have I witnessed the work of the Holy Spirit (pertaining to the fruits of the Spirit - Galatians 5:22-23)
working in and through me?
Before I was a believer in Christ, what would have been my natural reaction to this work?
4) Consider Piper's quote, “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him”.
Where have I chosen to pursue satisfaction apart from God? How did that turn out?
5) What do I need to revisit in my pursuit of Christ so that I am walking in abundant life?
Who can assist me with accountability towards that pursuit?
In addition to our questions this week, please note the following resources through RightNow Media that could be an encouragement to you as you seek to learn more about reading the Bible, understanding it's origins and purpose, and teaching your kids and students health way to interact with this incredible gift of God's Word!

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY
In our previous week of Foundational Steps in preparing to pursue Christ with our habits and our hearts, we looked specifically at our Explanation of The Word and how that informs us how to live according to scripture and walk with a Biblical lens in life. We worked through a systematic method of interpretation to allow the text to point us to proper context, understanding, and explanation to others - this method is the O.I.A. Method - we are going to leave these resources here for you to use for now.
SPECIFIC RESOURCES INTENDED TO HELP YOU WALK WITH THE O . I . A . METHOD:
