DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES ACROSS SLBC MINISTRY
Below, you will find specific resources that will allow families to continue biblical discussions within the family about things being learned in Sunday School, Children's Church, Youth Services, and our Sunday Sermons. The goal is to equip parents to be the primary disciple making leaders in their home while being equipped to have discussions towards understanding and application of biblical truths being discussed in places where parents might not be present for the teaching. These weekly resources should have an overview of what was studied, specific questions for discussion, and possibly some memory verses to focus on monthly. We hope these resources will be an encouragement to you and to your family as you lead the way by pointing your children to God's Word and God's Work in one another's lives.
DISCIPLESHIP FOCUS - 2026 - NEW CITY CATECHISM
As a church, beginning in February, we initiated a weekly pursuit of Discipleship in our homes and families by using New City Catechisms.
You can download the Apple IOS APPLICATION HERE and if you are an Android user you can download the GOOGLE PLAY STORE APP HERE.
Weekly, we will put the Catechism of the Week link here so that as a family if you don't use the app, you can still access the information here and can launch it in regular mode for adults and students or switch it over to kids mode to simplify the process of memorization and encouragement.
Additionally, we will be utilizing the catechism of the week to teach our Students and Children's Sunday School classes throughout the year so that as a family, there will be a continuity of directional growth towards foundational principles of the faith that can be learned at church and fully reinforced and implemented in the home!

THE BIG QUESTION FOR THIS MONTH:
What is God like?
God is holy, good, and loving.
Prophets to Judah
Micah; Nahum; Habakkuk; Zephaniah
This week, we will see God's goodness through His Word. Just like how God sent these prophets to Judah to proclaim a message of hope, the Word of God shares good news: Jesus died and rose again to save people from sin and death. Rejoice in the God of salvation.
DISCUSSION QUESTION:
What does Nahum's message that "God does not let the wicked go free" tell us about God's character?
God is just. Just means doing what is right and fair. Nahum reminded the people that God always does what is right and punishes those who do evil. God is holy, good and loving. God is good to punish sin because all sin goes against God's holy, good and loving ways.
How was the prophets' message similar to Jesus' message when He was on earth?
Jesus also told people to repent because the kingdom of God was near. When God tells us to turn from our sin, we are given an opportunity to recognize our sin and our need for Jesus. When we trust Jesus, we are forgiven and receive eternal life.
APPLICATION QUESTION:
Why is it important to remember that God is patient and that He keeps His Word?
Who can I tell about God's love?
MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:
The LORD is good to all,
and his mercy is over all that he has made.
- Psalm 145:9

THE MAIN IDEA FOR THE WEEK:
We are continuing our series on apologetics. This week we will look at the most important questions, "Who is Jesus of Nazareth?" and "Who did Jesus claim to be?"
DISCUSSION QUESTION:
Jesus has been transforming lives for over two millennia. He has rewritten the direction and outcome of human history. In his book, "What Has Christianity Ever Done for Us?", Jonathan Hill highlights some of the positive heritage of Christianity. What are some of the ones that we talked about?
Art and Literature, Church architecture, literacy by the masses, educational establishments, the importance of history, racial equality and the abolition of slavery
Can you separate Jesus the man himself and His teachings?
No. The Gospels records that Jesus regarded himself and his message as inseparable. He was a great teacher, but He was more.
APPLICATION QUESTION:
"I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: "I am ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God." That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God." - C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

FAMILY LIFE GROUP QUESTIONS
March 22, 2026
We are continuing our Exegetical Study in the book of Matthew this week!
Below are the questions for our FLG for March 22, 2026:
1) RECAP – How has my understanding of biblical forgiveness been practiced this past week?
2) Based on the sermon this Sunday, we learned marriage is both a challenge and a comfort.
If you were talking to someone contemplating divorce, how would you biblically encourage them
with a loving, yet firm way concerning these challenges and comforts?
3) We have studied biblical confrontation of sin and forgiveness leading up to our passage this week on divorce.
How do these two previous messages shape the way we discuss divorce?
4) Divorce is a painful subject and can bring about many difficult and challenging questions
(that can be met with either legalism and judgement or with grace and gentleness).
How do we as believers encourage people to follow biblical expectations in the midst of a challenging marital conflict?
