DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES ACROSS SLBC MINISTRY
Below, you will find specific resources that will allow families to continue biblical discussions within the family about things being learned in Sunday School, Children's Church, Youth Services, and our Sunday Sermons. The goal is to equip parents to be the primary disciple making leaders in their home while being equipped to have discussions towards understanding and application of biblical truths being discussed in places where parents might not be present for the teaching. These weekly resources should have an overview of what was studied, specific questions for discussion, and possibly some memory verses to focus on monthly. We hope these resources will be an encouragement to you and to your family as you lead the way by pointing your children to God's Word and God's Work in one another's lives.
DISCIPLESHIP FOCUS - 2026 - NEW CITY CATECHISM
As a church, beginning in February, we initiated a weekly pursuit of Discipleship in our homes and families by using New City Catechisms.
You can download the Apple IOS APPLICATION HERE and if you are an Android user you can download the GOOGLE PLAY STORE APP HERE.
Weekly, we will put the Catechism of the Week link here so that as a family if you don't use the app, you can still access the information here and can launch it in regular mode for adults and students or switch it over to kids mode to simplify the process of memorization and encouragement.
Additionally, we will be utilizing the catechism of the week to teach our Students and Children's Sunday School classes throughout the year so that as a family, there will be a continuity of directional growth towards foundational principles of the faith that can be learned at church and fully reinforced and implemented in the home!

Daniel in the Lions' Den
Daniel 6
Daniel grew into an old man but God continued to show him favor while serving under a new king. King Darius was tricked by his officials to make a law that would not allow anyone to pray to any god except to the king. Daniel in an act of defiance to this law continued to pray to the one true God. Daniel boldly walked in obedience knowing that his life would be in danger.
DISCUSSION QUESTION:
Why do we pray?
We pray because we trust God and and we know He hears us. God always answers our prayers, even when He gives an answer we do no expect. We can trust that God's way is much better than ours. Prayer shows our dependence on God and how we want to live for His will rather than our own.
Why do you think Daniel obeyed God rather than King Darius?
God is the one true King, He is the ultimate authority. We are called to obey God above any earthly leaders. Daniel would have sinned against God if he chose to follow the king's law. Obeying God will always be for our good.
APPLICATION QUESTION:
How did Daniel's obedience bring God's glory?
This week, ask you family to share at least one way they honored God with their choices.
MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
- 1 Corinthians 10:31

FAMILY LIFE GROUP WEEKLY RESOURCES
FAMILY LIFE GROUP QUESTIONS
May 17, 2026
We are walking through a mini-series entitled "God's Design For The Family" and this Sunday we looked at the role of Husbands and Wives - guided by Ephesians 5.
Here are our questions for this week:
FLG QUESTIONS:
1) How have you grown in pursuing God this week by recognizing where you might be in trouble and coming back to Christ?
2) Our sermon on Husbands and Wives is the crescendo of Ephesians 5 – Read through verses 1-21 and come up with a list as a group
of important prerequisites (character qualities, attitudes, heart postures, guards) that allow the believer to succeed in verses 22-33.
3) What are some counter-cultural characteristics of a BIBLICAL HUSBAND in contrast to the way the world would see the role of a husband?
4) What are some counter-cultural characteristics of a BIBLICAL WIFE in contrast to the way the world would see the role of a wife?
5) The success of marriage is built on the central hub of agape love for one another – How can I demonstrate this better in my marriage
(or for singles – prepare my heart and mind to walk in this way when I am married one day)?
