DISCIPLESHIP  RESOURCES  ACROSS  SLBC  MINISTRY

Below, you will find specific resources that will allow families to continue biblical discussions within the family about things being learned in Sunday School, Children's Church, Youth Services, and our Sunday Sermons. The goal is to equip parents to be the primary disciple making leaders in their home while being equipped to have discussions towards understanding and application of biblical truths being discussed in places where parents might not be present for the teaching. These weekly resources should have an overview of what was studied, specific questions for discussion, and possibly some memory verses to focus on monthly. We hope these resources will be an encouragement to you and to your family as you lead the way by pointing your children to God's Word and God's Work in one another's lives.

SUNDAY SCHOOL RESOURCES - KINDERGARTEN - 5TH GRADE

October 26, 2025

THE MAIN IDEA FOR THE WEEK:
We can trust God will make everything right.
Job is restored: Job 42:1 - 17; Mark 10:46 - 52
Traveling can feel so stressful, but once you arrive at your destination and unpack, everything feels… better.
This week, we’ll see what happened when God helped Job rebuild his life after he went through his uncomfortable experience.
Even though he lost so much, in the end God gave him so much more, which helps us know
we can trust God will make everything right

DISCUSSION QUESTION:
What unexpected things happened in Job’s life?
Job list his family, his possessions, and his health. His friends turned out to be unhelpful leaving Job more miserable and alone.
What did God have Job do for his friends?
Job prayed for them and God accepted his prayer.
How did God make things right for Job?
He received more blessings than he had before. He had a family again, great wealth, and he lived a long life.
Read Mark 10:52. How did Jesus make things right for Bartimaeus?
He helped him see, he cared for him when others told him to be quiet, he gave him a place among his followers.
APPLICATION QUESTION:
What does it mean or look like to have things made right?
Is there anything in your life or in the life in our family that you want to see made right in the world around you?

THE MAIN IDEA FOR THE WEEK:
We are continuing the application part of the OIA method
This week we are going to introduce the second of three spheres of application: Head, hands, heart.
Today we focus on the hands

DISCUSSION QUESTION:
The second sphere of application is the hands. The hands represent everything you do.
This involves imitating the Lord and his ambassadors, learning new skills so you can be more effective at building
God’s kingdom and laying aside your old patterns of selfish behavior.
Consider Ephesians 4:22-24, what does change involve?
Believing the truth, quitting your old behavior and developing new habits of obedience.

APPLICATION QUESTION:
What does it look like to apply the Bible to your hands?
Read Colossians 4:5-6. How might this passage show that we can apply God’s Word to our hands?
How could this impact our relationships (family, friends, teammates, etc.,)?

CHILDREN'S CHURCH - KINDERGARTEN - 5TH GRADE

THE MAIN IDEA FOR THE WEEK:
God is Greater Than Everything
This week we looked at when David sinned and admitted his sin before God.

DISCUSSION QUESTION:
In Psalm 511:4, why do you think David said he had sinned against God alone?
Sin is against God because He made us and created us to love Him. When we sin – whether we lie, hurt someone, or steal – it is first a sin against God.
Also, doing wrong to others is a sin against God because all people are made in His image, and He has commanded us to love one another.

If God knows our sin, why should we confess our sin to Him?
When we confess our sin we are showing that we agree with Him about our sin. Read 1 John 1:8,
we come into the truth when we acknowledge our sin and turn away from it. Read 1 John 1:9

APPLICATION QUESTION:
Is there any sin that you need to confess to God?
How can confessing and turning away from sin, help our family?

MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:
There is none like you, O Lord; you are great, and your name is great in might. - Jeremiah 10:6

FAMILY  LIFE  GROUP  QUESTIONS

OCTOBER 26, 2025

1) In our sermon this week, we approached the Kingdom principle of Citizenship - specifically of the believer. We understood through the disciples that being a kingdom citizen requires faith and a level of selflessness that is very challenging to do in our own strength. When we think about the challenges of being a Kingdom Citizen within a fallen world, where are some areas where you regularly experience challenge to represent the kingdom well?
(John 15:17-25 / John 16:1-4 / John 17:14-19)

2) Another important aspect of Kingdom Citizenship is our King - specifically our access to Him. As Peter walked through the trial of the temple tax, he naturally felt a specific way about the situation. It wasn't until he placed that before Christ that his attitude had an opportunity to conform to the image of Christ - and that wasn't natural or easy. What would need to happen in your life to develop this discipline of regularly taking difficult things we walk through to our King, knowing He has our best interest in mind as He guides and directs us?
(John 16:4-15 / James 4:1-10 / Romans 8:28-29 )

3) One element of Kingdom Citizenship that is always under assault by our culture, our society, and our enemy is identity. If we forget who we are in Christ and the promises we hold fast to as members of His Kingdom, we can easily become overwhelmed by the challenges of life and the opposition to the wisdom and the Word of God. What steps can we take as believers to regularly remind ourselves of our identity in Christ and His gracious and merciful love for us as we walk in both triumphant and challenging circumstances?
(2 Corinthians 4:7-12; 16-18 / 1 Peter 2:9-12 / Hebrews 4:14-16)

4) Being a citizen of God's Kingdom has incredible benefits and blessings while simultaneously coming at a cost to live as such a citizen within our society today. Being an ambassador is all about representing the kingdom to whom you pledge your allegiance with your life and your living. What parts of your life could use a solid dose of selfless submission to the King of Kings? How would that look to the world around you? What challenges would you face in taking steps to be a better citizen of God's Kingdom?
(2 Corinthians 5:17-21 / Colossians 3:23 / Ephesians 4:32 / Galatians 2:20)
