DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES ACROSS SLBC MINISTRY
Below, you will find specific resources that will allow families to continue biblical discussions within the family about things being learned in Sunday School, Children's Church, Youth Services, and our Sunday Sermons. The goal is to equip parents to be the primary disciple making leaders in their home while being equipped to have discussions towards understanding and application of biblical truths being discussed in places where parents might not be present for the teaching. These weekly resources should have an overview of what was studied, specific questions for discussion, and possibly some memory verses to focus on monthly. We hope these resources will be an encouragement to you and to your family as you lead the way by pointing your children to God's Word and God's Work in one another's lives.
DISCIPLESHIP FOCUS - 2026 - NEW CITY CATECHISM
As a church, beginning in February, we initiated a weekly pursuit of Discipleship in our homes and families by using New City Catechisms.
You can download the Apple IOS APPLICATION HERE and if you are an Android user you can download the GOOGLE PLAY STORE APP HERE.
Weekly, we will put the Catechism of the Week link here so that as a family if you don't use the app, you can still access the information here and can launch it in regular mode for adults and students or switch it over to kids mode to simplify the process of memorization and encouragement.
Additionally, we will be utilizing the catechism of the week to teach our Students and Children's Sunday School classes throughout the year so that as a family, there will be a continuity of directional growth towards foundational principles of the faith that can be learned at church and fully reinforced and implemented in the home!

Ezekiel Gave Hope
Ezekiel 37
The LORD took Ezekiel to a valley filled with dry bones and told him to speak the exact words that He would give him. Ezekiel did as he was told and the valley of dry bones formed together and became alive. Ezekiel's prophecy was a picture of the people of Israel. They were like dead bones with no hope, but God would give them life. God would make the way for those dead in their sin to have life resurrected.
DISCUSSION QUESTION:
In the valley of dry bones, what did God tell Ezekiel to do first?
God told Ezekiel, "Say to the bones and say, 'Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! 'I will cause breath to enter you, and you will live. Then you will know that I am the Lord'" Before we can be made alive and saved from sin, we first need to hear the gospel.
The bones had flesh, but they were still dead. What did God tell Ezekiel to do next?
God said to Ezekiel, "Say to the wind: 'Come from the four winds and breathe into these dead people so they may live!'" Ezekiel obeyed God and the dead people came alive when the breath entered them. We can only be made alive when we trust in Jesus and the Holy Spirit comes to live inside us.
APPLICATION QUESTION:
How can we, like Ezekiel, share hope with people?
Practice sharing the gospel with your family.
MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:
The LORD is good to all,
and his mercy is over all that he has made.
- Psalm 145:9
